Capita teams help renovate a community park
Our colleagues in Darlington have been helping their local community through a project called Darlington Cares, which is run in association with Darlington Borough Council and local businesses. The aim is to bring both real and sustainable benefit to Darlington while allowing businesses the opportunity to build links with each other.
Capita Intelligent Communications (CIC) have “adopted” Green Park in Darlington, with the aim of the project being the renovation of the park area. To date the Capita Teams have tidied up the footpaths, cut down over hanging branches, established a flower bed and cleared ground space. They have also painted the children’s play area and the park railings.
Having been an employer for over 20 years in Darlington, Capita has close links with the people of the town and surrounding areas and the staff have both a real interest and passion in supporting their community, as well as wanting to see Darlington continue to flourish as a town.
“Working with Capita colleagues outside of the normal office environment has been great fun. Feedback from our CIC colleagues has been very positive with people finding their time in the park enjoyable and rewarding. Staff have commented that they feel working in the park has helped with their mental health and general feeling of wellbeing.” said Anthony Lamb, Operations Director.
“The residents around Green Park and Darlington Borough Council have been very complimentary about CIC, the friendliness of our teams and all have expressed their appreciation of our efforts. There is still more work to do at the park not least buying some bird boxes, replacing some seating and somehow turning a boat into a planter. Hopefully our links to the park will be maintained going forward and there will be opportunity for others to get involved in the project.”
